As your system is new and comes with SP2, as you indicated in an earlier reply, I try and source an earlier version of the MSDV.SYS file. You can see here more specific uninstall instructions here. I bought a separate PCI card for firewire, since I recalled having problems with my last computer and the built in firewire port. Is there a driver I'm missing for the Sony DSR-30 deck to make it work with XP? But as I have said the pull-down menu ...Microsoft VCR properties ,in the capture screen, still lets me control the deck.. Thanks!

The program seemed to be working fine, then a test on the print to tape failed. Everything else you say is what I did. Everything appears to be working but the LCD screen on the camcorder is blue (indicating that a good recording is not being made). Would have been a head-scratcher had the very same thing not happened to me yesterday.
But I still don't have control of the DSR-30. All Rights Reserved.
Strange but Canopus EDIUS Pro 3 is working just fine with my DSR on the same BOXX. https://forums.adobe.com/thread/387590 theme. Passing video through firewire fine but capture has a "Communication problem". The SONY DSR-30P 's driver can also be downloaded elsewhere on the net.
